You are purchasing A COPY SET of the medals awarded to Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of Great Britain during World War II.

The original medals are currently loaned to the Cabinet War Rooms by the Churchill family. Some of his higher Orders are not included as the originals were returned to various Monarchs upon his death.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Of the orders, decorations and medals Churchill received, 20 were awarded by Great Britain, three by France, two each by Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg and Spain, and one each by Egypt, Libya, Nepal, the Netherlands, Norway, and the United States. Ten were awarded for active service as an Army officer in Cuba, India, Egypt, South Africa, England, France, and Belgium. The greater number of awards were given in recognition of his service as a minister of the British government. All of the orders, medals and decorations awarded to Churchill have been located. Thirty-three are in the possession of the Churchill, The other four were returned to the Sovereigns who granted them following Sir Winston's death in 1965. 27 medals and 2 Orders are on display.

NOTES: 1 - Privately cast from original - Sterling Silver - please see the Victorian Medals in this shop 2 - Military Medal 1940-45, Luxembourg Licenced copy - I am the ONLY medal dealer - worldwide - that has been licenced by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to make copies from my one original (now part of a set) Only 6 of these medals have been officially issued, 12 were struck by Spink at the end of WWII. 4 are in the custody of the Ministry of Defence in Luxembourg. 2 were 'liberated' in the early 50's. The whereabouts of the other original is unknown. Copies will be stamped with a 'C' on the reverse face. Copy of the Luxembourg Defence Minister's letter of authorisation will accompany the set
