"The Loup River, Alpes Maritimes”:
Painted in 1936, this was a favourite place for Churchill to experiment with his painterly style.  This work is one of two successfully entered into the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition of 1947 under a pseudonym.

Churchill: The Painter
Churchill's talent was multi-facetted, he was a soldier, politician, wartime leader, writer and historian. In 1915, at the age of 41 Churchill discovered a natural talent as an artist and for the rest of his life he painted enthusiastically. His art embraced many subjects and locations in Britain and around the world. Churchill painted over 500 canvases predominantly of landscapes, but also still lifes and self portraits.
