The invasion of France on the Normandy beaches by the allied forces on 'D-Day' 6th June 1944 marked the beginning of the liberation of Europe from German occupation, during World War II. The display contains ten coins, namely: halfcrown, florin, English shilling, Scottish shilling, sixpence, threepence (all struck in 50% silver), brass threepence, penny, halfpenny and farthing. The coins were minted in 1944 and are in fine or better condition. The item is housed in a display/protection case. The set can be removed from the case for framing if so desired. |
