This Toby Jug is cast using English earthenware and hand painted by Burleigh Pottery in Staffordshire, England. Ernest Bailey Churchilliana modeller For Burleigh was kept busy during the war modelling items of a patriotic nature. Commercially successful in the 1940’s was Baileys character jug of Winston Churchill depicting him in his Naval uniform in his previous role as First Lord of the Admiralty. The back stamp reads- “we shall defend every village, every town and city”.
