Year: 1965 Produced in 1965, this was the first coin ever produced in the U.K. with the head of a subject placed on the same coin as that of the monarch and only the fourth commemorative coin in England's history. Designed by the artist Oscar Nemon with Winston Churchill's portrait, as derived from Nemon's controversial sculpture bust of Churchill prepared for The Queen, whose own image appears on the coin's obverse side. The coin was manufatured from October 11, 1965 until the summer of 1966.
