A limited edition of 75. "A Study of Boats” Churchill enjoyed many painting holidays in the South of France. This particular work from around 1933 was formely in the Collection of Lady Churchill. Churchill: The Painter Churchill's talent was multi-facetted, he was a soldier, politician, wartime leader, writer and historian. In 1915, at the age of 41 Churchill discovered a natural talent as an artist and for the rest of his life he painted enthusiastically. His art embraced many subjects and locations in Britain and around the world. Churchill painted over 500 canvases predominantly of landscapes, but also still lifes and self portraits. Halcyon Days: Halcyon Days was founded in 1950. The company is honoured to have been granted royal warrants by Their Majesties The Queen and The Queen Mother, and Their Royal Highnesses Prince Philip and The Prince of Wales as the first ever and only 'Suppliers of Objets d'Art' and is one of only six companies to hold all four royal warrants. Halcyon Days' antiques, enamels, porcelain and scented candles are incomparable collectors' items, gifts par excellence. They are direct descendants of the rare and beautiful enamels of 18th-century England. They are made by craftspeople in Bilston, the traditional English centre of enamelling on copper.
